Stories for Raeva

As Raeva is growing up, I want her to have access to the Marathi, my mother tongue, in a fun way. Eventually, may be she will go to a Marathi class or something. But for now, I want her to hear stories and songs, make friends who speak the same language. And to “read” Marathi books as well. I am working on getting her all of these one by one. Starting with oral stories! She is obsessed with them and demands an endless series of “goshta”. Friends, spinning endless tales is really stretching my imagination. More so because currently, the only acceptable protagonist is elephantine, which is how Raeva currently pronounces elephant.

To alleviate this, I asked my parents to help. He reads a lot on various topics and is a wonderful narrator. During the pandemic, he would record a story from Indian mythology every day and I’d put it on a podcast feed. We never made any money but he had developed a nice following. Unfortunately, we did not keep it up once the world opened up. I’m starting a similar effort with the stories for Raeva. My parents send a quick audio clip daily and I play it for Raeva and she loves it! I’d like to have these on a feed. Hence, this landing page. Potentially, other parents in this situation could benefit as well.
